A former Knoxville High School Assistant Wrestling Coach has been charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee.
Tyler Hatch, a resident of Knoxville, was taken into custody at the Knoxville Police Department Thursday morning. Hatch is not a teacher in the district, and had his resignation from the coaching position accepted at the January 9 Knoxville School Board meeting. Knoxville Police Lieutenant Aaron Fuller tells KNIA/KRLS News an anonymous tip was received January 6 that Hatch had sexual contact with an 18-year-old student in early October at an apartment in Knoxville. Fuller says the investigation is ongoing but there was probable cause to make the arrest. Knoxville Superintendent Cassi Pearson says the district is cooperating fully with the investigation and says the incident was not connected to Hatch’s role as a wrestling coach, and it occurred before the wrestling season.
