In a update to the story of Knoxville receiving a $75,000 Matching Assets to Community Health (MATCH) grant to apply to the extension of the Competine Trail Project, the Wellmark Foundation has released information about all the grants it gave out in 2016.

Wellmark representatives tell KNIA/KRLS News MATCH grants help families and communities achieve better health through environmental changes that encourage active lifestyles and consumption of nutritious foods. The Foundation awarded 11 grants for a cumulative total of $756,366. Knoxville’s grant will help extend the Competine Trail to South Fifth Street, a distance of just over a mile from its present end point near Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.
