Knoxville High School Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees were honored Friday at two ceremonies, a luncheon at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum and a ceremony between Friday’s basketball games.
Gene Bane, a 1942 graduate, is being recognized for earning accolades in football, basketball, and track. He was state runner-up in both the 100yd and 220yd dashes, setting KHS records that still stand today.
Molly Darnell, class of 1965, for leading the the women’s golf team to a state championship and consistently finishing in the top five at state during her career.
Kent Chrisman, a 1987 alumni, anchored the offensive line for the Panthers in the fall of 1986, and was named Class 3A First Team All-State.
Coach Greg Stults led the Panther cross country program from 1978-2001. His teams claimed a State title, a runner-up, 13 conference championships, 13 state appearances, and finished top-ten in the state meet 11 times.
