The Pleasantville boys’ and girls’ basketball teams took two wins from the East Union Eagles on Friday with a 65-37 win for the girls and a 72-62 win for the boys.
The Trojan girls got the winning started with a dominating 28 point win behind Kelsee Van Haalen and her 28 points, 18 of which came off of her six three pointers. Eleven different Trojans scored on Friday for the Trojans which would win its third game of the year and first win at home. In the boys game senior Brady Elder would only score 10 points on the night after he broke the 1,000 career point mark on Tuesday at Wayne. Elder couldn’t get the scoring he wanted but facilitated a masterpiece as eight total Trojans scored led by junior Gauge Van Haalen with 21 points, 15 of which were off five three pointers. Head Pleasantville boys’ basketball coach Joel Allman knows Elder didn’t get the scoring he wanted but knows that his team is more dangerous with everyone scoring. At the end of the night Gauge Van Haalen couldn’t best his sister who had six three’s compared to Gauge’s five so Kelsee will have the bragging rights over her brother until the Trojans get back to the hardwood on Monday as they travel to Osceola to take on Clarke.
