The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad got a little closer to a South Central Conference title with a 79-65 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg last night. Both teams offenses were on as the Rockets led by one at the end of the first quarter and Knoxville took a four point lead into the halftime break 36-32. The game remained close until a couple of minutes left in the third quarter when Knoxville hit back-to-back threes and ended the third with a Cade McNeill three at the buzzer. Coach Jeff Larson was happy to see the offense get going, and liked the effort from his team. Knoxville got balanced scoring as Trent Davis with 18 points, Chase Larson had 15 and Patrick Crawford scored 14. Knoxville is now 10-5 on the season and 9-0 in the conference. The girls, still shorthanded last night, got down early to Eddyville in a 59-20 loss to the Rockets. Turnovers plagued the Panthers all night. Katie Keitges led the scoring with 13. Knoxville is now 6-11 and 5-4 in the South Central Conference. Knoxville will travel to Centerville on Friday.
