Pella Community Ambulance has seen a continued increase in the number of incidents they respond to.

EMT Dan Turner says it was a record year for the non-profit agency. The group of 30 volunteers and paramedics ran 1737 calls, of which 63% were 911 emergencies, 30% were transfers, and the rest a combination of tiers with other services, standby events, and other calls. Paid staff covered Pella and the surrounding areas 24/7, and volunteers contributed over 5000 hours, and 70% of calls happen during the day with 17% secondary, which means they occurred when at least one ambulance was already out.

He says volunteers continue to increase their numbers to cover more calls whenever possible.

urner says Pella Community Ambulance also recently completed ice rescue training alongside Pella Fire volunteers to better serve the community.
