The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad took care of business last night in Centerville and clinched at least a share of the South Central Conference title with a 64-55 win over the Big Reds. The Panthers seemed to have the game under control heading into the fourth quarter, however, Centerville would go on a 16-6 run to cut the Panther lead from 16 to as close as four, but Knoxville would make crucial free throws down the stretch to salt the game away. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was most proud of his guys keeping Centerville from taking control of the game. Balanced scoring again helped Knoxville as Patrick Crawford scored 14 points and Cade McNeill got 13. Knoxville is now 11-5 on the season and 10-0 in the conference and can win it outright with a win Thursday against Chariton. The girls also took care of Centerville winning 49-30. Both teams started slowly with Knoxville only leading 7-5 after one quarter, but the Panthers turned on the offense the rest of the way outscoring the Reddetts 28-11 in the second half. Katie Keitges scored 17 points to lead Knoxville. The Panthers are now 7-11 on the season and 6-4 in the conference and will play Tuesday against Eddyville-Blakesburg.
