After going up 2-1 in doubles, the Central College men’s tennis team held on to a 5-4 victory over Concordia University of Nebraska Saturday when Pella’s Sam Dykstra clinched the match at number three singles.
It was the first win of the season for the Dutch, who are 1-3.
Dysktra put the team on his back to secure victory, outlasting Javier Moreno 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. He also teamed with Tom Palmer of Pella to provide the biggest margin of victory on the day at number three doubles, 8-2.
Central will send two different lineups to Minnesota for a total of four matches on Saturday. One group will be in St. Peter to play Gustavus Adolphus College and Augustana. A second group will head to White Bear Lake to face the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and Hamline.
