The Pella Christian girls basketball team will begin the road to what they hope is their 11th-ever trip to state and first visit to Wells Fargo Arena since 2013 as their regional playoffs begin tonight.
A No. 1 overall seed in their bracket and No. 7 in Class 2A, the Eagles are hoping to use their home court advantage when they host North Mahaska in the second round of the regional playoffs.
Pella Christian was granted a bye and had extra time to scout the Warriors of New Sharon, who at 15-6 defeated Colfax-Mingo to advance Saturday night.
Eagles Coach Kevin Van Maanen says North Mahaska is young and full of perimeter shot ability–however, he’s hopeful to leverage his Eagles’ team’s definite size advantage on both sides of the floor.
Live coverage from Pella Christian High School begins tonight on 92.1 KRLS, kniakrls.com, and the free KRLS mobile app at 6:30 p.m., with Andrew Schneider and Former Pella Christian AD Brad Engbers calling the action.
