The Knoxville School Board met in special session on Wednesday to discuss the 2017-2019 master contracts with the Knoxville Education Association.

The board unanimously approved the master contracts, a step that Knoxville Schools Superintendent Cassi Pearson felt would help alleviate some recent anxiety due to current collective bargaining legislation. According to t Pearson the contracts are extremely similar to the current contracts for this school year. The board as well as the Knoxville Education Association agreed to keep teacher salaries as they currently are and teachers will receive their one year experience for next year that comes with a small salary increase. Pearson says the board approved the contracts now so that if any pending legislation is enacted, no changes will come until at least 2019. The board also approved two volunteer drivers, one to assist in transportation for TAG students to events and the other for transporting Knoxville High School Cheerleaders to the upcoming state wrestling tournament in Des Moines. The school board will next meet on Monday, February 27th.
