The Pella Christian girls basketball team hosts Montezuma tonight with a spot in the class 2-A Region 6 final on the line.
The Eagles come in at 14-8 after beating North Mahaska Tuesday night. The Braves are 16-6 after dispatching BCLUW that same evening.
The two teams met earlier this season, in what was the second game of the year for both squads back on November 22nd. Pella Christian trailed by 12 at halftime, was still down one at the end of the third quarter, and eventually came out on top 48-43.
Eagles Coach Kevin Van Maanen expects another big challenge from Montezuma tonight.
“They have good skill positions and they have a big girl inside. They’re very similar to us in skill positions, and it’s going to be a battle all night. We just need to make sure we know what they’re doing and set our defense. I think that whoever plays the better defense will probably be victorious, so we need to make sure we concentrate on that hard.”
The opening tip is tonight at 7:00 at Pella Christian. Trevor Castle and Brad Engbers will call the action on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30.
