The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is looking for donors as the blood center is experiencing an unusual high number of no-shows and cancelled appointments due to the increased flu presence across Marion County.

The blood center also reports a low collection rate at area high schools has contributed to the low amount of blood available for new patients. The center is asking the public’s help to recoup the recent losses due to illness and low donation rate. The center will be holding a Knoxville Community Blood Drive on Monday February 20th at the Marion County Extension Building Conference Center. To become a donor it’s best to call the blood center to make an appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome.
