Back in November, there were many within the South Central Conference when polled that did not believe Knoxville would finish much above the basement in the girl’s basketball race. The Panthers proved everyone wrong by finishing third place with a 7-5 record and was in the title chase until the final week of the season. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while third place is never a goal he was happy with the finish and says it could have been even better. He says the first Albia game could have gone either way and ultimately went to Albia, and likely the most frustrating game was the first Davis County game where the girls led nearly all the way and lost in overtime. Uitermarkt says next season the conference should be competitive top to bottom and hopes his team is one of the teams competing for the top spot.
