The Pella Rural Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire north of town earlier this afternoon.

Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom says a gray sedan was heading northbound on 210th place north of Dubuque Drive when the front of the car suddenly caught fire.

The driver was able to escape before the front side became engulfed. Pella firefighters stopped the blaze quickly upon arrival, as it had jumped to the adjacent ditch, and they worked to prevent the fire from spreading during windy conditions.

No injuries were reported. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Pella Ambulance responded as well.
