The new Knoxville VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday afternoon.

The event took place in front of the new facility located at 1607 North Lincoln Street in Knoxville. Congressman Dave Loebsack, Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch as well as VA staff and other officials spoke during the event. Gail Graham, Director of the Central Iowa VA Health Care System tells KNIA/KRLS News the VA is focusing on outpatient care at the clinic, but with new technology veterans don’t always have to leave Knoxville to get the care they need. Congressman Loebsack spoke about the importance of mental health care, especially towards veterans with PTSD. Loebsack says having a facility and staff like the one this new facility will provide is critical to all veterans. Loebsack also added, if veterans know the care is here, that’s the first step for them to come in and get help. Tours of the new facility were given following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
