An Eddyville man was arrested Monday after being served with a warrant for 23 charges stemming from a high speed pursuit that took place early Sunday morning.

Danny Shaffer was arrested and charged with eluding, seven charges of speeding, nine charges for failure to obey a traffic control device, two charges for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, two charges for reckless driving, failure to maintain control and failure to have valid license. According to court documents, on Sunday, April 9th at approximately 2:43 a.m. a Knoxville police officer witnessed Shaffer riding a motorcycle above the posted speed limit. The officer attempted to stop Shaffer but he allegedly accelerated in excess of 70mph in a 35mph zone in an attempt to elude the officer. Shaffer allegedly failed to stop at multiple stop signs, drove on the wrong side of a two-lane highway and exceeded the speed limit by 50 mph over the posted speed at one point. The motorcycle Shaffer was riding came to rest in a yard in Knoxville and Shaffer fled on foot. Shaffer was later arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail on $5,000 bond with his preliminary hearing set for April 21st.
