The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday.

The council began the meeting by holding a public hearing to discuss the contracts, bonds, certificate of insurance and estimate of cost for the Reno Street sewer improvement project. Following the hearing the council voted to approve the resolution approving the project. The council then held a discussion regarding the downtown parking ban from 2 a.m. till 6 a.m. which the council later voted to keep in place. The council later listened to Water Reclamation Superintendent Pat Murphy tell them upgrading the lights would save the city money and the purchasing of the automated fence would allow the Knoxville Police Department to patrol the area more efficiently. The council voted to approve both the lighting upgrade as well as purchase of the automated gate for the facility. At the end of the meeting the council set a date of Monday, April 24th to hold a special city council meeting to discuss the current city council vacancy. City Manager Aaron Adams stated the city currently has three candidates for the vacancy but residents who would still like to be considered have until Wednesday, April 19th at 5 p.m. to inform the city.
