Area law enforcement will have extra officers on the roads beginning Monday as part of a busy travel season.
Lt. Paul Haase with the Pella Police Department says they are participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau’s sTEP enforcement wave. Haase says with graduation parties, school getting out, and the Memorial Day holiday, there will be a high volume of cars and pedestrians throughout the community. Haase reminds drivers to obey speed limits, wear seatbelts, avoid driving while intoxicated and driving distracted.
The Iowa State Patrol, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Pella Police Department will be participating in the extra enforcement period.
