Video of tornado near Highway 92 and 5
Multiple tornadoes touched down throughout Marion County during an active night of severe weather in the area.
The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air shortly before 6 p.m. for a tornado warning in the central part of the county, and stayed on with live updates for an additional three warnings. Eight staff members and the Weather Eye Weather Center provided live coverage during the entirety of the multiple storms moving through.
Trained weather spotters confirmed tornado or funnel cloud sightings near Pleasantville, west of Knoxville, and near Lake Red Rock.
Significant damage to power lines, buildings, and trees was reported near Pleasantville, with more damage spotted near Otley, rural areas west of Knoxville, and Melcher-Dallas.
Widespread power outages were also reported by Mid American Energy, with more than 1300 customers reportedly without power for hours as crews worked to restore power. Many county roads were also closed by the Marion County Road Department, including:

Additional severe weather chances continue today for much of the state. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal for severe storms south of Highway 30. Heavy rain is the primary threat. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team will go on the air anytime any portion of Marion County is under a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning, and backup generators ensure the coverage stays on if the power goes out.
