Abnormally dry conditions have returned to the region according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report.

Rainfall in Marion County and areas of south central Iowa has been spotty, with different areas receiving rainfall over the past week. According to rainfall reports since June 28th, no precipitation has been recorded near Melcher-Dallas at White Breast Creek, but Lake Red Rock has seen just over half an inch, and more than an inch has been recorded in Pella during that same timeframe.

The abnormally dry conditions are short term, but according to the latest climate outlook for the month of July, a warmer, drier month is in the forecast. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
