The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday.
The board approved two different student fundraisers.The first fundraiser if for the high school baseball team to rent reserved camping spots during Nationals. The second fundraiser is for the high school dance team to sell yard line ownership for the 2017 football season. The board approved a resolution ordering a question to be added to the ballot during the next school board election for potentially amending the current levy for the voter approved Physical Plant and Equipment Property Tax.The levy would be used to help fund a project to build eight new tennis courts where the current skate park is located and replace the current tennis courts at Youngs Park with a new skate park. The board approved an agreement to make Snyder and Associates the lead consultant for phase 1 of pre work for the tennis courts project up to $30,000 of work.
The board approved handbooks for the 2017-2018 school year for students, teachers and coaches as well as the branding standards and style guide.The board also made the annual administrative appointment of Craig Mobley as Board Treasurer Secretary as well as other administrative assignments and designations for the 2017-2018 school year.The board discussed and identified their top priority issues to be proposed for the 2018 legislative priorities.
