The wooden playground at Auld Park will be temporary closed today as sealant will be applied to help preserve the wood.
Application will begin at 6 a.m. and the sealant could take until the afternoon to fully dry. Residents are asked to stay off any portion of the playground that is taped off. The park was built in 1994 by a volunteer group with the assistance of the city over one weekend. Dennis Webb, with the Knoxville Streets Department, tells KNIA/KRLS News the reason the wooden park is still standing is in part because of the yearly application of the sealant.
