The Marion County Secondary Road Department was recently awarded a grant from the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool for the purchase of temporary rumble strips to be placed at different work sites throughout Marion County.

County Engineer Tyler Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News the strips will be used as an advanced warning at work zones, specifically one lane road closures. Christin adds, the strips are an effort to warn the motorist of an upcoming work zone while protecting workers from distracted drivers. Christian says his department received a $1,000 grant for the strips which are already being utilized in work zones throughout the county.
