On Monday, Dr. Christopher Peters made an announcement to the residents of Marion County in which he stated he will be running for U. S. Congress challenging current Congressman Dave Loebsack for Iowa 2nd U.S. House District seat.

Dr. Peters, a veteran, physician and small business owner, tells KNIA/KRLS News he believes he could bring a common sense problem solving attitude to Washington D.C., which he sees as lacking right now especially as it applies to health care. Peters says he believes the underlying reason is political dysfunction and he has been speaking about the need to reform our political system. Dr. Peters lost to Congressman Loebsack in 2016 by a 7.4% margin or just over 27,000 votes but won Marion County by 3,663 votes.
