The Pella City Council awarded a contract for improvements to Caldwell Park at their meeting Tuesday evening.
Hooyer Construction of Pella will work on the $769,000 project that adds an ice skating rink during the winter, pickleball courts, and an expansion to the skate park.
A resolution allowing the disposal of property previously vacated for the use and benefit of Central College was approved as well. City staff recently discovered that the property under the Vermeer Science Center was vacated but the proper procedure for selling public land was not executed.
The council approved the third and final reading of an ordinance setting guidelines for establishing historic overlay zones in the city, as well as a resolution adopting the Marion County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan of 2016. A Class B beer sales license was approved for The Wijn House, in addition to an extension of their wine sales permit.
