A project aimed to improve traffic flow at one of the busiest intersections in Pella is moving forward.
The Pella City Council approved a resolution to enter into an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation to add traffic signals and turn lanes to West Washington Street at the 15th Street and Highway 163 interchange.
City Administrator Mike Nardini says the stretch of Washington Street in that area of town has caused a lot of headaches for travelers, and the new upgrades will help the overall flow of traffic on the street. Nardini says the agreement allows the city to be eligible for a $200,000 grant for the $541,000 project.
Depending on the timing of the Iowa DOT’s review, the lane and traffic control installation may be completed late this fall. Hear more about the latest from this week’s Pella City Council meeting on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
