The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday.
The council held a public hearing for the Grand Theater easement. The easement is for the waterline which is already provided to the Grand Theater. The council approved a resolution authorizing the transfer of an interest in real property for the easement of the waterline. The council discussed and approved a loan request to the Low Rent Housing Board for $1,000 on condition of a promissory note to be made to the city. The loan is for the board to recoup earnings from a 2012 lawsuit which totals $22,985 in potential earnings. The council approved the scheduling of a special meeting date of August 14th, 2017 at 9 a.m. to interview interested candidates for the vacant city council position.To date Dylan Morse and Jason Everly have expressed interest. The council discussed the possibility of rescheduling the August 21st city council meeting to 5 p.m. instead of 6:15 p.m. but after it was determined council members would not be able to make the earlier time the council voted to keep the regularly scheduled time.
