Officers from the Pella Police Department and the Pella Fire Department were able to extinguish a vehicle fire late Sunday night.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., a passerby noticed smoke coming from the front of a car parked next to Gospel Chapel on Union Street. Police and fire crews arrived to the front end of the blue sedan on fire, and crews were able to successfully extinguish the fire. A cause was not determined, as nobody was inside the car at the time of the blaze, which melted the front tires and caused significant damage to the front end.
