The Knoxville City Council met in special session Monday.

During the special session the council held interviews for the vacant city council position. Jason Everly and Dylan Morse were the two candidates who were interviewed during the meeting. Council members took turns asking individual questions to each candidate. Both Everly and Morse who are involved in different organizations were each asked about their potential conflicts of interest. Following the interview portion all three members of the council, Megan Suhr, Cal Stephens and James Lane agreed to voting in and appointing Dylan Morse as the next city council member to fill the vacant seat left my former Council Member Craig Kelley. Council Member Rick Kingery was absent from Monday’s meeting. Council Member Megan Suhr shared her thoughts on both candidates and said she was happy that Everly has enrolled in the Knoxville Leadership Academy but felt Morse would be able to jump right in and “hit the ground running” without much of a learning curve. The council will next meet in regular session on Monday, August 21st at which time they will vote to approve the appointment of Morse and Morse will then be sworn in and take his seat with the rest of the council.
