The Knoxville Rotary Club held their weekly meeting Wednesday.
During the meeting students who were selected to take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Conference spoke to the club about the conference. Junior Bailey VandeKamp, Senior Hallie Orr, and Junior Joey Kesteloot all shared their experiences with members of the club. Kesteloot tells KNIA/KRLS News the conference was a life-changing experience which allowed him to learn more leadership skills and to understand that people might be going through more than what they let on. This year the Rotary Club also sent 7th and 8th grade students to the first year of the Young Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp which was held in Grinnell from July 23rd to July 28th. Eighth grader Johanna Leonard and ninth grader Jamie Beal were selected for the camp and shared their thoughts as well as to what they learned at the camp during Wednesday’s meeting.
