A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 1 a.m. for most of central Iowa.

From the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center:
Impacted counties include Marion, Mahaska, Warren, Jasper, and Polk Counties. A growing complex of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to move generally southeastward across the watch area through this evening, offering occasional damaging gusts and isolated severe hail. Severe-storm potential becomes more uncertain into central/southern Iowa later tonight; for now, the watch extends to just south of the I-80 corridor.
