The Pella City Council has set a public hearing date to add traffic signals and additional turn lanes to the Highway 163 and Washington Street interchange at their meeting Tuesday.
The council is to award a bid for the approximately $578,000 project at their Tuesday, September 5th meeting. Earlier this month, the council approved a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation to fund $200,000 of the project. According to a timeline estimate provided by city staff, the contractor awarded the bid would begin to work on adding the additional turn lanes in mid-September.
The council also set the Beggar’s Night date in Pella for Tuesday, October 31st and approved a special event permit for the Many Hands for Haiti Color Blast 5K on September 23rd.
