The Pella Food Shelf reports their shelves were wiped out during their busiest month of the year, and they are hoping the community helps them restock.

Director of the Pella Community Food Shelf Melissa Zula tells KNIA/KRLS News the Pella Hy-Vee has stepped up with a recent donation weekend to help fill their shelves, as well as a new drop off box in their store. Zula says the Pella Hy-Vee, as well as Pella Motors, is partnering with Pella and Pella Christian football teams for their home games on Friday, September 22nd for a special Food Truck Friday tailgate food drive.

“Both schools are going to have the Pella Motors pace truck sitting outside of their opening, and we are going to fill the truck, so if you are planning on coming to either the Pella game or the Pella Christian game, then we would like to ask you to bring a bag of groceries and help us fill the truck and help us fill our shelves, and help take care of our friends and neighbors right here in Pella,” she says.
