Pella Christian will put its perfect record on the line tonight as Mount Ayr visits Eagle Lane for a class 1-A district football matchup.
The Eagles have won three straight games by blowout, and are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in district play. The Raiders sit at 2-2 and 1-1.
Pella Christian’s rushing attack has led the way so far, with 273 yards per game on the ground and 7.8 yards per carry. Meanwhile, they’ve only thrown for 101 yards per game, and coach Rich Kacmarynski hopes they can continue to evolve that part of the game.
“You’re seeing the maturation of Hayden Vroom at quarterback, both running and throwing. We threw the ball better against I-35 last week. Our receivers are just too good not to take advantage of that, and I hope we can take another step forward in the passing game tonight.”
Kickoff tonight between the Eagles and the Raiders is set for 7:00 at Pella Christian High School. Join Trevor Castle and Larry Hessing for the action live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30.
