While temperatures didn’t quite break records for the first day of autumn in Marion County, more heat is expected this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s high of 91 did not beat the previous record of 94 set in 1938. However, highs are in the low 90s today and upper 80s tomorrow. The hottest day on record for September 23rd was 91 set in 1984, and the warmest temperature recorded on September 24th is 90. Much more mild conditions will be in place by Tuesday, with highs in the low 70s.
