For the 14th year, late model drivers from around the nation will take part in the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals at The Knoxville Raceway. Just two drivers in the history of the event have won multiple times. Scott Bloomquist was the first to do it in 2005 and again in 2009. The inaugural winner Brian Birkhofer won it in 2004 and again ten years later in 2014. Josh Richards has the most top five finishes without a win at five. The format is just like the 360 and 410 sprint car nationals in August, with time trials, heat races, and C, B, and an A-Main tonight and tomorrow night. All drivers have the option of running both nights and their highest point total from the two nights will be used to set the field for Saturday’s $40,000 to win finale. Hot laps are scheduled to get underway tonight and tomorrow night at around six-45.
