The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has found the remains of a rural Knoxville man that was reported missing earlier this week.
Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News members of Fire and Rescue and Law Enforcement from Marion and Jasper Counties began an organized search for Ted Richard Roberts north of Attica Wednesday morning.
At approximately, 9:23 am one of the search team members discovered the remains of Roberts in a field about 550 yards north of his residence. The scene was secured and a Marion County Medical Examiner Investigator was called to the scene. The remains of Roberts were transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. There is no indication of foul play at this time. Sandholdt thanked everyone in the community that played a role in helping locate Roberts.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and numerous local agencies have been searching for Roberts since Sunday. Marion County Emergency Management, Bussey Fire and Rescue, Indiana Township Fire, Knoxville Rural Township Fire, and Pleasantville Fire and Rescue assisted in the search, among other agencies.
