Four of our local volleyball teams have learned their postseason opponents.
In class 1-A, Melcher-Dallas will open with a home match against Grandview Christian on October 17th, while Twin Cedars plays Seymour in Centerville that same night.
In class 2-A, Pleasantville will host Martensdale St. Mary’s and Pella Christian will entertain Colfax-Mingo, both also on October 17th.
The Eagles have been preparing themselves for the postseason with a schedule that includes the challenging Little Hawkeye Conference schedule and a slew of 4-A and 5-A opponents in weekend tournaments.
“We have to go out there and get our skills to a high level and compete with them and not worry about whether it’s 3-A or 4-A or 5-A”, coach John Evenhouse said. “If we get to state, we’re going to be facing Dike-New Hartford who every weekend will be beating 5-A top five teams. So if you’re thinking about going to state and making an impact, you have to be able to play against those kind of teams.”
The Eagles are in action tonight at home against Dallas Center-Grimes.
Elsewhere in the Little Hawkeye Conference, Pella High will play host to Oskaloosa.
