The Knoxville School District will hold their Knoxville Community Panther Walk in conjunction with the Healthiest State Walk today.
Students and staff as well as the community, local businesses and families will show up at Randy Wilson Track today to complete as many laps as possible. Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News students from West Elementary and the high school will begin walking at 8:30 a.m. followed by middle school students at 9:15 a.m., North Star Elementary at 10 a.m. and the high school advisory students at 11 a.m. Pearson says students will walk until 12:10 p.m. counting all the laps they complete during their walk. Participants will also be able to help Knoxville win the community challenge by posting pictures of themselves during the walk to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram by using the hashtag #GetYourWalkOn, tagging Healthiest State Initiative and tagging the Knoxville community. The KNIA/KRLS Lil Big Red Radio will be at the walk playing music and making announcements.
Three events will be held in Pella at Central College, Vermeer Corporation, and Pella Regional Health Center at noon.
