Undefeated Wartburg visits Pella today to take on the Central College football team in a crucial Iowa Conference matchup.
The Knights are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the IIAC, while the Dutch are 3-2 and 2-1 in the league.
Central has won back-to-back games with freshman Blaine Hawkins at quarterback, but the Wartburg defense will provide his sternest test yet. Coach Jeff McMartin hopes that they can have a balanced attack this afternoon.
“They’ll work to make you one dimensional, and the way they make you one dimensional might be in the pressure they put on you with their offense. But if we can stay in manageable situations, both in the running game and the passing game and on the scoreboard, those are things that help you because you can attack how you want to attack.”
Game time for Central and Wartburg is 1:00 today at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. Trevor Castle, George Wares and Libby Randall will have the play-by-play, beginning with pregame coverage at 12:35.
