The open enrollment period for Medicare begins on Sunday and continues through December 7th.

Seniors that are currently enrolled in Medicare or those about to enter the program are encouraged to seek help through the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIPP) through Crossroads of Pella. Director of Crossroads Jim Hibma says they aim to help anyone participating in Medicare drug coverage with counselors who can go step-by-step through the enrollment process. Drugs are grouped into different tiers by each carrier and plan, which may be based on whether it is generic or branded and other factors.

Hibma encourages anyone who wants to set up a session with a SHIPP Counselor during the open enrollment period to contact Crossroads of Pella at 628-1212.
