A Melcher man was arrested Sunday following an incident which occurred on September 28th in which he is alleged to have possessed firearms as a convicted felon.
The incident occurred when Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call for a welfare check for Rodney Sedlock, 48, of Melcher. Upon arrival deputies made contact with Sedlock who was not wearing a shirt. Officers asked Sedlock if he wanted to go back into his apartment to retrieve a shirt at which time officers accompanied Sedlock into his apartment. Upon entering the apartment officers observed a device commonly used to consume illegal controlled substances. Officers continued to follow Sedlock into the home and observed a black rifle scope on the bedroom floor next to a live shotgun shell. Officers asked Sedlock if he had any firearms in the home to which Sedlock stated he had no weapons and he could not possess them because he was a felon. According to court documents officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment and found three firearms located in the common area of the apartment complex. Officers also located approximately 1 gram of a powdered substance which tested positive for methamphetamine. Sedlock was arrested and charged with felon in control of a firearm, a class D felony, possession of controlled substance third offense, a class D felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.
