The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Pella Police Department will be participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 28th.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office, Pella Police and Monroe Police are partnering along with the Drug Enforcement Administration to give residents an opportunity to bring their unused and unwanted prescription drugs to turn in for disposal. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked, and is meant to help the public prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. There will be a collection bin in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office and main lobby of the Pella Police Department and at City Hall in Monore. No needles or liquids will be accepted. Last April, Americans turned in 450 tons of prescription drugs at almost 5,500 sites operated by the DEA and more than 4,200 of its state and local law enforcement partners.
