The No.2 Pella Christian football team has Woodward-Granger standing in the way of the Eagles’ second-consecutive perfect regular season in a district championship matchup tonight.

The 8-0 Eagles will travel to the home of the 6-2 Hawks in Woodward to wrap up the 2017 regular season. Pella Christian has clinched at least a spot in the playoffs with a blowout of Central Decatur last week.

Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the contest will definitely have an elimination game type-feel, and that his Eagles want to be able to defend Eagle Lane for at least the first round of the postseason.

Kacmarynski says the key will be slowing down Woodward-Granger’s rushing attack that’s tallied almost 2000 yards on the ground and has four different players with at least four rushing touchdowns.

The Class 1A District 5 championship bout between the Eagles and Hawks begins with pregame coverage at 6:30 and live play-by-play at 7 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS, with Andrew Schneider and Larry Hessing calling the action.
