Local students have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as members of the 2017 All-State Music Festival.
The following from Marion County schools were selected:
Chorus:
Carson Breon, Pella Christian – tenor
Natalie Henry, Pella – tenor
Brant Bacon, Pleasantville – tenor
Band:
Adam Smart, Pella – euphonium (2nd consecutive All-State Nomination)
Tessa Brouwer, Pella Christian – percussion
Orchestra:
Annaleigh Babcock, Pella – cornet
The 2017 Festival will celebrate the 71st anniversary of this prestigious event. District auditions for the 281-piece All-State Band, 201-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held this past Saturday throughout the state. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 P.M. in Hilton Coliseum at Iowa State University on Saturday evening, November 18. Tickets are $22.00 each, plus fees, and all seats are reserved for the Iowa All-State Festival Concert, including at the ISU Athletics Ticket Office or via Ticketmaster.
