Pella Christian beat Sigourney-Keota last year in the first round of the class 1A football playoffs, and the Eagles are hoping for a repeat of that feat tonight.
While Pella Christian brings the highest scoring offense in 1A into the game, the Cobras feature the most yards per game in the class, and the most rushing yards per game of any team in Iowa, regardless of class.
This is the sixth straight year that the Eagles will have played Sigourney-Keota, so Coach Rich Kacmaryski feels they’re as well equipped as anybody to handle the single-wing spinner back offense.
“We’ve played them at all levels, including JV and junior high. But they have two nice backs, both (Carson) Crawford and (Luke) Greiner are over 1,000 yards on the season. We definitely have our work cut out for us defensively.”
Kac also says that the Eagles best defense could be a ball controlled offense, and he says that special teams will be critical on what is supposed to be a cold and windy night.
You can hear tonight’s game live on 92.1 KRLS, with Trevor Castle and Larry Hessing calling the action on Eagle Lane. Pregame starts at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00.
