Fresh off of two straight state tournament appearances, the No. 10 in Class 4A Pella Lady Dutch will look to begin a similar journey when they start competition tonight.

Pella will host Mt. Pleasant to kick off the 2017-18 season. Head Coach Jerod Garland says this is a new look Lady Dutch team, with only three of their main rotation from last year returning–Guards Chloe Van Vliet and Kara Wichhart, and post Emily Holterhaus.

Garland isn’t exactly sure what will happen when the action starts, with many young players likely to see their first varsity action.

“This is the most inexperienced team that I’ve ever had hear, so you just don’t know what to expect. I’d anticipate that we’ll play a little bit too fast probably and we’ll have to have girls slow down a little bit as they’ll be excited to play. I’m not sure what our bench is going to so it’s going to be fun to see what happens.”

Tonight’s varsity matchup begins at 7 p.m. at Pella High School.
