Today is Thanksgiving, the annual holiday where Americans enjoy a day of feasting and football.
More than 45 million turkeys are eaten on Thanksgiving Day, with a never-ending list of side dishes and desserts. The Thanksgiving meal is by far the largest and most stressful meal many consumers prepare all year, leaving room for mistakes that can make your family and guests sick. Marion County Public Health is wanting to remind residents about ways to make sure you have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving. Residents are reminded to always wash hands before preparing the meal and when checking the turkey make sure to check the temperature in three locations with at least 165 degrees in each location before the turkey is considered done.
