Knoxville residents will get a chance to help fill food shelves in Marion County while taking part in a 5k.

The “New Year’s Resolution Run” will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 30th. Both a 5k run and a “Hot Chocolate” walk will be part of the event. Cost is $20, which includes a t-shirt or $15 if attendees bring a non-perishable food item. Knoxville High School students Trevor Poundstone, Joey Kesteloot and Bailey Vandekamp came up with the idea as a way to help fight hunger in Marion County by filling local food shelves.
