17 days from now, Knoxville will host its tenth Coaches vs. Cancer event. By now, it has become the biggest high school event in the nation winning numerous awards during the nine previous years it has been going on. Girls Basketball Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he wants it to be a fun environment for his team and the fans. He adds one way fans can help out is simply ordering a T-shirt. Uitermarkt hopes that 1,000 T-shirts can be sold for the event which is January 20th. A silent auction will go on all day and into the evening along with alumni basketball games and the varsity games with Chariton including the survivor’s ceremony in between games. They are still accepting donations for the silent auction. To donate call 891-0066.
